The Inaugural Virginia Freight Transportation Summit

Please join Virginia's Secretary of Transportation, Sean T. Connaughton, legislative leaders, key freight stakeholders, and industry experts at the 2011 Inaugural Virginia Freight Transportation Summit on Tuesday, as a prequel to the Governor's Transportation Conference, focusing on the economic contributions of freight transportation and developing efficient distribution infrastructure systems.

Lunch and dinner speakers include Secretary Connaughton; Alan Meyers, Cambridge Systematics, Inc.; Samuel Skinner, U.S. Secretary of Transportation under President George H.W. Bush and Retired Chairman, President and CEO, USF Corporation; Janet Kavinoky, Executive Director of Transportation and Infrastructure, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Vice President of Americans for Transportation Mobility Coalition. Panel topics will include Virginia's Competitive Position and Economic Growth Relies on Efficient Freight Transportation and The Importance of Considering Freight in Transportation Policy, Planning, Prioritization and Investment. The Summit will also include the premiere showing of the Freight Transportation Advisory Committee of the HRTPO's A Region United video.
